I don't like relying on past blogs for directions/instructions or examples. They are examples, but I have no way of knowing if the meet the expectations of the instructor unless I ask him specifically with each blog I view.

What types of learning strategies would you recommend to make the activity even better?

I liked the hand's on approach to collecting GCP, that was very helpful. However, I only experienced one of the more professional GPS units. Before separating into groups and collecting data, a overview on the pros and cons of each unit would be nice.

The second portion of the day was watching the professionals use the UAS platforms. Understandably this was not hands on, and relatively unstructured making it difficult to pay attention. We were at the mercy of proximity to the professional to see and hear what they were doing as well as any information they provided about the platform. This was my first experience with UAS/drones and I didn't even know what questions to ask. If a worksheet was provided by the professor to fill out/take notes with, I would have been more engaged, asked more questions about the differences between each platform, and overall had a better experience.

5- Strongly Agree

What types of learning strategies would you recommend to make the activity even better?

When we got to the Priory, Professor Hupy did not give me a paper copy of the map I created, but rather one created by another student, saying that theirs was the best map overall. Some clarification on why it was the best or expectations I missed that would have put mine in league with theirs would have been helpful.

GPS equipment that also works with android devices would have been better. Few people in our class had an iOS device to use to practice.

1-Strongly Disagree,
2-Disagree
3-No real opinion

5- Strongly Agree

What types of learning strategies would you recommend to make the activity even better?

Written directions could have been better. Our group was not aware that we were looking for spray-painted trees until we had already been to several locations without finding the trees. Additionally, in the first part of the lab we had to navigate to 5 locations with the GPS logger on. We thought that we needed to go to the locations in numerical order, which took a much longer time to complete than other groups. When we returned to the parking lot, we found out that other groups went to each location as it was convenient.

I don't like the vague written expectations describing the desired product, and relying on past blogs for guidance is difficult because I am not sure how high quality they are according to professor Hupy.
